**Regarding openings for Couples/ Marriage therapy and Children/ Adolescent clients

While I know it can be difficult to find a therapist for couples/ marriage therapy or for children and adolescents, please know that I am at capacity/ full for these populations. I really would love to help but I can only see a certain number of couples and children/ adolescents at a time. Once I discharge a few when they complete treatment, I will let you know as an update here.  I only take a specific number of couples and child/adolescent clients because if I try to "squeeze anyone in" I feel it will affect the quality of care I provide. Periodically, I don't mind if you email and check if you have not found a therapist yet.

Change in hours of operation

Effective April 1, 2021, I have extended my office hours in terms of when I start seeing clinical clients for sessions. The new hours are 12 pm and close at 7 pm. Morning times between 10 am-12 pm are reserved for clinical and business consultations. I have addressed the past availability of weekend appointments by continuing to still offer evening appointments, the last evening client starts at 6pm ( They fill up quickly).  The office will still be closed on Saturdays and Sundays. If there are client emergencies, e.g. medically related, as always, please call 911 and go to the nearest emergency room. For other emergencies in need of an immediate session, you all know how to reach me regardless of what day it is, I will still make an effort myself available to you.

New Locations

I have decided that it is best to move to a more new space for both clinical and business clients' comfort and to conduct business in a more spacious location. The new physical address has free parking as usual and the new address will be right off Route 75,  Richardson/Dallas/ Plano areas. I am currently doing telehealth, however, Lisa will be at the front desk to meet and greet you. The address was effective: November 1, 2020

Physical address

2425 N Central Expy, Suite 700, Richardson, TX, 75080

Online Address

This is a HIPAA compliant and secure telehealth platform through PsychologyToday.com. I will provide my waiting room address to current and prospective clients only. Please do not try and use the telehealth platform for appointment requests.

Insurance

Please make sure you contact your insurance to confirm that you have mental health coverage. Please be sure to collect the name of the agent and a call reference number. That way we don't have unanticipated charges without something to reference to. As many of you have known, the fine print with insurance is that having benefits is not a guarantee of coverage ( this is a prerecording with many insurance customer service lines).

Clinical Consultations for prospective clients

My clinical consultations are FREE. It is not a session but a brief call. I will explain what it entails in my reply to your email. I do ask that if you want to schedule a clinical consultation,  please email including a brief description of what you are seeking and whether or not you are using insurance as a payment method or if you are self-pay/ private pay. If using insurance, please identify which one and the plan (e.g, PPO, EPO, Federal, etc- it is often on your card) so that I can let you know if I am in-network or not.  If you schedule a clinical consultation, please call at the mutually agreed upon time. If you do not call, there is no guarantee that you can schedule another call as several other people are seeking consultation time as well.

Business/ Corporate Consultations

Please send an e-mail with a brief statement of what your business or organization is seeking/ targeted areas of need, the size of your workforce, your organization's website, your availability if I would be starting a project with you specifically. Also, it is very helpful if you could please include information for direct contact for any personnel working with you in the event of your absence.

Best wishes!

IMPORTANT TRANSITION ANNOUNCEMENT- PLEASE READ***TELEHEALTH

March 22, 2020, at 7:15pm

A shelter in place order has been issued for Dallas County beginning 11:59 pm Monday, March 23, 2020, through April 3, 2020, 11:59 pm.

As I have discussed with you all in session over the past couple of weeks, our contingency plan will as follows:

I will send links out for an encrypted HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform (individually according to your insurance plan requirements)

I know this is a difficult time and transition is difficult.

Since this falls under the essential healthcare service according to the Dallas County shelter in place order,    I will be in on Monday, March 23 to ensure I can set everything up and still see those who are coming in. From Tuesday through Thursday, if you want to come in, I need to know ahead of time otherwise I will expect you to be joining me online because there are some clients who are getting flustered or anxious being in the house and I don't want this to worsen anyone's symptoms. Next week I anticipate we will be completely Telehealth until further notice. I will try and make reasonable accommodations on a case by case basis if there are issues so please reach out. We are in uncharted territory here. Any decision I make regarding physical sessions is from both a clinical and medical (yes, different) perspective. I will not be conducting any EMDR sessions for a while because of the nature of the therapy and proximity. I also need you all to ensure you have no distractions or background noise, you are in a comfortable space, and your internet connection is secure and speed is adequate.

Let's work together on this so that there is no disruption in care.

Remember: Don't Panic- PLAN

I will be posting more on my website regarding updates and other info in the coming days.

Best wishes & stay well!

New Location ! Additional Insurance Plan

December 31, 2019, at 10 am

Change in hours of operation

Effective January 1, 2020, I will no longer be able to offer Sunday appointments. Unfortunately, I have had to think about this for a while. I had this option for those who could not come in due to work schedules that prohibit them to come in during the week. I have addressed this by still offering evening appointments. After some time, people were taking Sunday availability for granted and last minute cancellations on the weekend were becoming unreasonable as this was an accommodation I was extending, limiting my own personal time. Since self-care is very important, I think it crucial that I put that first. The office will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays from now on. This might change in the future if there is a greater need but for now, the office will be closed.  If there are client emergencies, you all know how to reach me regardless of what day it is, I will still make myself available to you.

Best wishes!

Location! Location! Location!

Many of you know, we are growing and that means more changes.  I have decided that it is best to move to a more personalized space for my clients' comfort and to conduct business in a more spacious location.  Parking will be free as usual and the new address will be right off the Dallas Tollway ( about 8 mins away from the old practice location):

13601 Preston Rd, Suite 503, Dallas, TX, 75240 ( Carillon Towers -WEST)

Insurance

As anticipated in previous months,  we are now accepting Aetna health plans with the influx of requests for appointments.

Arrival at the new location: There will be a private waiting room at the new location and it will be more personalized. There are two waiting areas. The first waiting area in the lobby is right in front of the elevators and you can wait there if my private waiting room is closed for some reason or you want privacy. If you elect to wait in the main waiting area, I will come and find you at your exact appointment time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes early, please do not knock and just come into the private waiting area as it can be disruptive.  Instead, help yourself to some complimentary hot or cold beverages in my private waiting room as you patiently wait your turn and I will be with you at your appointment time. (Also be mindful to keep noise at a minimum in the waiting room)

Best wishes!

Changes in Days and Hours of Operation

March. 26, 2019 at 10 am

As we continue to grow, I have decided that it is best to become more available to my clients. We are going to be accepting other insurance plans and with the influx of requests for appointments, I will now be available on the previously closed Wednesdays and Thursdays.  This means that some other changes come with that of course. Saturdays will no longer be available, however, I will still offer Sunday appointments. Appointment times will now begin at 12pm so that I can also accommodate my consulting clients with whom I meet for business meetings in the mornings but I want to always make sure my clinical clients have access to me as well. I hope this will be beneficial for everyone. It frees up time for my own personal endeavors as I settle into some recent (good) life changes.  Self-care is important and that is what I am working continuously in my own life as I encourage my clients.

Reminder: Just check-in at the front desk with Marie upon arrival as usual and let me now if anything has changed with your insurance.

Best wishes!

Additional Services

Nov. 13, 2018 at 10 am

I would like to also announce that I am EMDR trained and will be providing that form of therapy at my practice effective November 14. EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy and cutting edge in treating trauma and can be very effective in addressing other issues such as depression, anxiety, phobias, etc., with its many protocols.

For more information you can copy and paste these links in your browser:       https://www.emdria.org/page/emdr_therapy

WE ARE GROWING!

As the practice grows, many of you are aware, we are moving into a larger space, same building and floor to accommodate the need for space for equipment and other office needs. It will still remain as warm and welcoming as always, just with a little more room. The new office will be a different suite number but same floor and address. Just check-in at the front desk with Marie upon arrival as usual.

Insurance Update

 Nov. 13, 2018 at 10 am

I am happy to announce that I now accept Magellan Healthcare Plan ( Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO) Insurance as of November 13, 2018. I am now In-Network with them.  This allows me to provide services to a broader range of clients seeking services in the greater DFW area! As a courtesy, I always check in with them for you ahead of scheduling regarding any co-pays and deductibles so that you can make informed financial decisions about your care. I still accept BCBS (PPO & OTHERS), American Behavioral, Cigna, United Healthcare/ Optum Behavioral, Lyra, and Self-Pay.

Payment Feature Update

Oct. 22, 2018 at 10 am

After trying to work with one of the software and billing vendors I have been in contact with, I have decided to hold off on adding the payment button on this site. There were too many delays with the vendor and I am still in the process of looking for a more reliable vendor to make payments more convenient. I will update you with any new developments.

Insurance Update

August. 1, 2018 at 11 am

I'm happy to announce that I now accept United HealthCare Insurance since the end of July 2018. I am part of the carrier's Preferred Provider Option (PPO) or In-Network with them.  This has allowed me to provide services to a broader range of clients seeking services in the greater DFW area! As a courtesy, I always check in with them for you ahead of scheduling regarding any co-pays and deductibles so that you can make informed financial decisions about your care. I still accept BCBS, American Behavioral, Cigna, Lyra, and Self-Pay.

Co-pays and Co-insurance payments

Sept. 6, 2018 at 10 am

I'm sure by now everyone knows that co-pays are paid when you come to a session as your share after insurance pays their share. Co-insurance is usually a percentage of the pre-contracted fee ( the discounted rate I agree to with your specific insurance carrier) .this often occurs when a deductible has not been met or sometimes, even after depending on what your Employer has agreed on regarding terms of coverage.

I would encourage you to look at your insurance policies during open enrollment and ask questions regarding how much you will be responsible for out-of-pocket with any plan you pick if you have that option with your employer or insurance carrier. The out-of-pocket payment is often applied towards your deductible. I can not speak for your insurance company regarding what will be applied so please call them for clarification regarding this.

A New Payment Feature on this site!

Sept. 3, 2018 at 11 am

I know everyone dreads the in-office card payments so I decided to enlist the services of a HIPAA compliant billing company to make life a little easier on everyone. What will be coming soon is a new way of making your payments online before you come to your session. I will receive notification that you have made payment and you will receive your receipt upon payment. You can retain your receipts for your records.

You will still have the option to make payment in office, whatever is easiest for you, I don't mind.  If you want to bring cash, you are welcome to do so.

I will post again or let you know when you come in for your session once the payment feature is up and running. I anticipate this will be before the end of September, 2018.

Client Portal & Appointment Reminders

Sept. 6, 2018 at 11am

Another exciting feature I have been talking about with many of you is the Client Portal. This is also coming soon and will have various capabilities through TheraNest. You will be able to send me a quick message, you 'might' get automated appointment reminders (Please remember your appointments because sometimes I forget to send reminders out. I'll remember to show up, so it's your responsibility to remember to show up too).  Speaking of which, please respond to confirm your appointment when I text you courtesy reminders. Please confirm appointments at the latest by 8:30 pm the evening prior to your appointment. Do not do so the morning of the appointment or while sitting in the waiting room ( its a bit funny but defeats the purpose of me sending you the reminder). You are still responsible for remembering your own appointment and a late cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel after the 24hr window.

New Client Refundable Scheduling Deposit

Sept. 5, 2018, at 11 am

Picking up on something my doctor used to do before he retired...If you are a NEW client and we have already spoken and agreed on everything, the new policy is to make a refundable deposit of $120 ( my self-pay fee) to secure an appointment within 48 hours or the appointment will be given to someone else. ( We will discuss how to make your deposit and confirm your appointment). If you do not attend your appointment, that fee is non-refundable and will be your missed appointment/ No Show fee. My current clients already know this policy and adhere to it because they care about their treatment and progress and respect my time and their own time and the work we are doing.

***Please Note: This will only be charged after we have verified your insurance or other payment arrangements and you have made an informed financial decision regarding how to proceed regarding payment for your care. Tentative appointments will not be held for more than 24hrs without a deposit. All insurance details need to be verified within 24hrs or we can not move forward so please send me this information sooner than later so scheduling can move along.

If you cancel your appointment with less than 24hrs notice, the fee is non-refundable. This is because the time slot you have taken and missed could have been used by someone else who wanted to be seen. It is a waste of time and resources and I can not call people on short notice to come in because someone decided they don't want to come in.  So far I have had no objections because the people scheduling appointments lately are serious about their treatment and therefore know they will get their money back because they are all showing up. This also helps me see who is as serious about therapy as I am.  Please note*** Insurance DOES NOT pay for missed appointments or cancellations.

Weekend and Evening Appointments

Sept.6, 2018 at 11 am

Most people know but some don't. The Receptionist is not available on the weekend and after 5 pm. She may work late sometimes but she will be working on other things. That being said, please make sure you text my Business cell when you arrive and just indicate if you are outside or inside on the Ground floor or on the 2nd Floor by the Skybridge. That way I can unlock the elevators for you. The building is extremely secure and the elevators will not let you come up without an access card holder. The security guard can send you up if he is available to do so or you can call my office phone. I might not respond to texts immediately if it is not your session time yet (you arrived early)because I may be in session with someone else but I will come and let you in. I promise. As long as I can find you. Please don't get 'ambitious' and look for the staircase to the 12th floor...You're on your own on that one (It's happened before, I found them in the stairwell after some time, it takes up your session time)
